Angling 4 All is a user led group of people who attend some of Gateshead Council Council’s Adult provider services.

People within the group have learning, physical and/or enduring mental health disabilities. The aim of the group is to encourage people to engage and participate in the sport of angling.  We wish to break down social barriers by adopting a ‘Can Do Approach’ for people with disabilities. Angling 4 All members learn new skills and participate in angling on a regular basis as well as signposting people onto local angling clubs.  Our aim is to encourage inclusion within the sport of angling and TO HAVE FUN.  Angling sessions take place throughout the North East in safe, peaceful and accessible locations.

About Us

Angling 4 All was created when it was identified that there were a large number of disabled people who showed an interest in fishing.   Angling 4 All is a user led group with its own committee, chairman, secretary and treasurer.  Members make choices and decisions about the types of fishing they wish to do, where and when they want to fish as well as how their club is run.  A dedicated and skilled group of support staff help the members to fulfil their choices and wishes.

Angling 4 All approached Dave Munt from the Angling Trust to help the group.  Dave introduced the group to Tyne and Wear Sport and the County Action Angling Group who provided the necessary information and knowledge to access Sport England grants.  Angling 4 All successfully received an initial grant to help the group set up.

Where we fish

All of the venues we use are risk assessed prior to events taking place. This is to make sure these are safe, can be accessed by people with mobility problems as well as having other facilities such as car parking and toilets close by.

Fishing is all about having fun, meeting new and existing friends, learning skills all in a safe accessible environment.
